Returning to School Plan

• Health declaration (school self-certification form to be provided) required for children and staff before re-entry in September
• Students showing a particular pathology for Covid are not to come to school
• Staff and Students to declare any relevant underlying health conditions
• If a staff member is infected, before entering the school a certificate must be presented showing evidence of two negative tests
• Staff and students exhibiting a temperature over 37.5C must visit the doctor and obtain a certificate of health from the doctor or self-certificate before re-entry to the school (Form to be provided)
• The Nurse can only see one person at a time, with no queue outside the door
• Reception to manage access to the Nurse
• If there is a case of infection in the school, with distancing observed, only the relevant class to be sent home (and relevant teacher(s)), not the whole school
• If a teacher or student develops a high temperature during the day, they should immediately be isolated
• Younger children to be accompanied by an adult until collected
• Guidance from the authorities will be followed for ‘clinically vulnerable’ groups of staff, pupils and those that have household members in these categories
• Anyone feeling unwell, with any of the symptoms for Covid will be sent home and told to self-isolate
• First-Aid kits available
• Where a school observes guidance on infection prevention and control, closure will not generally be necessary if infection is confined to a small number

• All rooms to be regularly deep-cleaned before re-opening of the school, and this to be continued after opening
• Regular hand washing to be promoted - for 20 seconds, with soap and running water
• Hand sanitiser to be used on entry and exit to each class
• Soap / hand sanitiser and tissues available for pupils and staff, and for visitors arriving at main reception
• Soap and water is the preferred choice; hand sanitiser is used when soap and water is not practical
• All staff to be issued with face shield and mouth mask by the school
• Pupils to provide their own mouth mask; students can additionally wear face shields if preferred
• We have 750 spare mouth masks
• Protective face shields and gloves available onsite for cleaning tasks and personal care where needed
• Frequently touched surfaces to be cleaned using sanitising chemicals. These include door handles, toys, books, table tops, handrails, desks, chairs, sinks, toilets, light switches
• Activities which involve passing items around a class to be avoided
• The sharing of stationery, books and other resources and equipment to be avoided where possible
• Equipment to be labelled with pupil’s names, where possible
• Teachers should make sure they wash their hands and surfaces, before and after handling pupils’ books
• Play equipment to be appropriately cleaned between use by different groups of children, and multiple groups not to use it simultaneously
• Unnecessary items to be removed from learning environments where there is space to store it elsewhere
• All adults and children to clean hands on arrival, before and after eating, and after sneezing or coughing
• Children and staff to be encouraged not to touch their mouth, eyes and nose
• Staff and students to use a tissue (or elbow) to cough or sneeze, and use bins for tissue waste
• Bins for tissues to be emptied throughout the day
• Help to be available for children who have trouble cleaning their hands independently
• Younger children to learn and practise these habits through games, songs and repetition
• Bus drivers to follow hygiene rules and try to keep distance from their passengers

• Children to be kept in the same groups as much as possible each day, and different groups not mixed during the day, or on subsequent days
• The same teacher(s) and other staff to be assigned to each group and, as far as possible, these stay the same during the day and on subsequent days, recognising that for Senior there will be subject specialist rotation of staff
• Wherever possible children use the same classroom or area throughout the day, with a thorough cleaning of the rooms at the end of the day
• Students to sit at the same desk each day, as far as possible

• Well-being support for all pupils to be in place; time taken to answer questions and help pupils understand purpose of routines; time for discussion within class groups, with review of provision and reflection time within PSHE
• School Counsellor available for pupils that require additional support at least 2 days a week
• Students need to see adults being positive, hopeful and in control

Students must bring the following, labelled as appropriate

• 3 clean masks per day - to be changed every 4 hours
• Water bottle
• Hand gel
• Equipment for lessons
• Rain mac and/or umbrella in case of rain
• Students under 14 to be dropped off and picked up by parent or delegated person over age of 18 (only one adult)
• Only book bags required for Primary pupils up to Year 2; Years 3-6 can bring a small backpack (No pull-along trolleys)
• Clearly labelled bag of spare clothes to be provided by Parents of Nursery and Reception Pupils

• Conversations with parent/carers to be held by phone or online communication; only in exceptional circumstances should Parents need a face to face meeting in school
• Parents/carers to be informed not to enter the school unless they have a pre-arranged appointment, or for Primary pick-up
• Face-to-face parent evenings not to take place during the emergency
• Online Parent Consultations available

• Thought to be given to staggered Induction days/half days at beginning of term, with new students given some kind of induction the day before term starts
• If staggered induction, staff children to be in school and supervised

• PE Kit will be worn all day on days when PE or sport are scheduled

• Temperature check to be taken of anyone entering the school

• 08.30 – 08.40   Y3 arrive at main Rombon gate and proceed to playground where they queue against long wall, entering the building up fire escape stairs
• 08.40 – 08.50   Y2 – arrive at bus gate and proceed to playground where they queue outside the gym, and enter by side door close to staff room
• 08.40 – 08.50   Y1 – arrive at main Rombon gate and proceed to playground where they queue against the long wall, entering the building up central courtyard stairs
• 08.50 – 09.00 – Nursery enter by main Rombon gate, led by parents directly to the classroom
• 09.00 - Reception enter main Rombon gate and led directly to class; only parents of new pupils allowed to escort children
   
• For the first week, Nursery Pupils to come in 2 shifts: Group A from 9.00 to 12.15, Group B from 12.30 to 15.15
• Siblings (and staff children) - to come at the earliest sibling's designated entry time
• On very wet days pupils to go directly to the classrooms in the morning
• Buses to arrive as per Eurocar Schedule

• 15.00 – Nursery and Reception exit – parents picking up from the blue line
• 15.10 – Year 1 and 2 exit – parents pick up from the green area on playground
• 15.20 – Year 3 and 4 exit – parents pick up from the blue line
• 15.30 – Year 5 and 6 exit – parents pick up from the green area in the playground
   
• Parents to observe social distancing protocols and to wear masks
• Only one parent to pick up 
• No party arrangements to be made leaving school directly

• To be worn as directed by the authorities – pupils to bring 3 clean masks per day - to be changed every 4 hours
• Face shields additionally to be worn at Parents' and Students' discretion

• No bags other than book bags/ small backpacks to be brought into school – to avoid use of pegs
• No pull-along trolley bags
• School bag to contain pencil case (to be left under desk), reading book and packed lunch as required
• Homework set digitally (including Italian) to minimise need to carry any class books
• Only musical instruments can be brought in separately
• No need for PE kit in bags, as PE kit will be worn all day on days when sport is scheduled

• Hand sanitiser applied on entry and at every re-entry to the classroom
• Class desks clearly labelled with pupil name
• All desks to be a metre apart
• Equipment on or under desks to minimise need for movement about the room
• Door open at all times, and windows open as much as possible to increase ventilation
• Music Room to be 4^th Italian classroom
• Primary IT Suite and Primary Library potentially to be Classrooms or Staff workroom
• No soft toys, cushions or rugs in classroom
• Lessons or classroom activities could take place outdoors
• If there are any shortages of teachers, then teaching assistants can be allocated to lead a group, working under the direction of a teacher if safe to do so.

• Nursery and Reception to have staggered breaks and lunch time play in enclosed EYFS play area 
• No soft toys: equipment to be cleaned after use
• Y1 – 3 and Y4 – 6 to have staggered breaks and lunch time play in main playground, within designated zones – the area to be divided into three main strips to accommodate 3 year groups at a time
• Different coloured strips for each zone
• Boxes/areas to be identified, with strips of tape or paint that accommodate up to 6 pupils, maximising use of shaded space
• Marquee to be placed in Primary playground
• Climbing frames not to be used; any play equipment used should be cleaned between groups 
• Supervisors, cleaning, ancillary and admin staff to be inducted in roles
• If sunny, pupils need hats; sun lotion must be applied by parents
• Pupils may collect hoola hoops in certain year groups to sit down inside the hoop and ensure social distancing

• Pupils can either bring packed lunches to school, or packed lunches can be ordered from Pellegrini, the school caterers, with the lunches (3 options) delivered directly to the rooms
• Lunch ordering system required for Pellegrini on half-termly basis (BSM Pellegrini App will be available)
• The canteen will not be used during this period
• Classrooms to be sanitised before and after lunch
• Hands to be washed after eating snacks and lunches

• Teacher manages individual requests for toilet, with pupils visiting toilet one at a time; pupils must wash hands after each visit and hand-sanitise upon re-entry to class
• Minimise mass trips to the toilet: distancing rules to be observed and rigorous hygiene maintained
• Younger year groups to hold a plastic rope, with 1m markers to hold to help maintain distance as they walk along the corridor
• Cleaning staff on each corridor to monitor use of toilets
• Stools/steps in classrooms to facilitate hand-washing in class basins
• Toilets will be more regularly cleaned

• Temperature check to be taken of anyone entering the school
• Path both sides leading to gates to be marked out, accommodating students at metre-long intervals
• Parents to wait on green common opposite the Pisani Dossi gate
• 08.20 – 08.30   Y9 – arrive at main Via Pisani Dossi gate and proceed directly to classrooms, entering by side door close to the Staff Room
• 08.20 – 08.30   Y7 – arrive at side Pisani Dossi gate, and proceed directly to classrooms, entering by door up short staircase on the left

• Year 13 (a small year group) will be allowed to enter any time between 08.20 – 08.40
• Tutors in classrooms as students arrive
• Any students quarantined for high temperature to be placed in former P1 area until picked up, and shelter under canopied wall close to offices if raining.
• Students to go round from bus drop-off to via Pisani Dossi entrance, and not through the school
• Siblings (and staff children) - to come at the earliest sibling's designated entry time

• Classrooms for independent study to be allocated for Y12 and Y13

• No use of lockers for Y7 – 9 – all belongings to be stored in dedicated classrooms
• Lockable filing cabinets available for laptop storage
• Y10 – 13 still to use lockers, maintaining social distance
• Staff to be allocated remaining lockers as required, using every other one
• Musical instruments to be stored in classrooms for Y7 – 9, or lockers for Y10 -13
• No need for PE kit in bags, as PE kit will be worn all day on days when sport is scheduled

• Pupils can either bring packed lunches to school, or packed lunches (3 options) can be ordered from Pellegrini, the school caterers
• Lift to be used to deliver to classrooms on the top floor
• Lunch ordering system required for Pellegrini on half-termly basis (BSM Pellegrini App will be available)
• Lunches delivered directly to rooms for Y7 – 9
• Students must be outside when not eating at lunch
• Y10 and 11 to collect their lunch from designated areas
• Y12 and Y13 – most will eat out, but area designated in Canteen for those who prefer to eat in school
